Jaydin Alford murder of Jaylen Talley

Jaydin Alford shot and killed his cousin, Jaylen Talley, 21, on Aug. 5, 2022, at West Scenic Apartments in North Little Rock.

Police responding to calls of a shooting found Talley inside an apartment with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later died. Authorities arrested Alford, then 18, and initially charged him with first-degree murder. Investigators said Talley was shot in the back. Alford initially claimed self-defense.

The case later resolved with a negotiated guilty plea to second-degree murder, and Alford received a 30-year sentence. Records list his custody status as Pulaski County Waiting List, meaning he is not in an Arkansas prison unit yet despite the conviction and sentence. Now age 21, his earliest projected release date is in 2037.
